About Me

My photo
Silver Lake: Los Angeles' Urban Village
Since 2003, I have been writing and publishing about the community I called "home" off-and-on between 1973 and 2007. The last "go-round" (2002-2007), I was actively engaged in the community. From 2003 until 2005, I served on the very first Silver Lake Neigthborhood Council. Elected to a 2-year term as the top vote-getter, I founded the SL Beautification Committee and served as Vice Chair in 2004. My life in Silver Lake prompted me to begin a community website, "The Silver Lake News". After a slow start, the website is now Silver Lake's "Most Visited" Community website! As of December 2011, the site has rec'd almost 5 million hits! In 2007, Donna and I packed our bags and moved to the next-door neighborhood of Los Feliz. We live in the Beaton House, a beautiful c.1929 Spanish Revival home, dubbed "La Casa Contenta", where we frequently host community gatherings and charitable events.
